Airlines like Jetstar, Vietnam Airline and Vietjet are the one offering flight to Da Nang. The cheapest one is the Vietjet (tickets can go as low as VND 250,000). The downside was that their flights often get delayed. Our flight to Da Nang got delayed 4 times that day.

Most articles online say buses are the cheapest was to Da Nang, probably if you were unable to book in advance. We were able to get a flight to and from Da Nang for only VND 300,000 / one way (bought it two months before our said travel)

Noi Bai Domestic Airport ( Hanoi) to Da Nang International Airport ( Da Nang)

Noi Bai Domestic Airport

( Terminal 1)

We took the airport bus going to Noi Bai Domestic Airport for 45 minutes (VND 30,000). The domestic terminal was pretty deserted, luckily we saw an airport employee whom we asked the whereabouts of the check-in counters.

Process of checking in:

  • Check in through Vietjet self-service check-in kiosk or through the check in counter (check-in counter is far from where the bus dropped us off)
  • Passport and  check / ticket
  • Security check (before passing the scanner, you need to empty your pockets and remove your belts, watches and shoes)
  • Terminal Gate

We were used that tripods were not allowed to be hand carried but we took the risk of this flight because the check-in luggage was very expensive. Luckily for us, it went through the scanner pretty smoothly, as well as the 250 ml shampoo and conditioner.

Arrive at Da Nang around 1 am. Taxi was still available but we did not feel comfortable riding one so we booked one through Grab app. It took us 30 minutes before getting one as the rain started to pour like cats and dogs.

Recommendation

Airbnb in Danang

Review

  • This is a private room with its own bath inside a condominium unit. The host is staying in the other room
  • Because of the delayed flight, we arrived around 2 am but the husband’s host was there to greet us.
  • The room was very spacious with a great view of the Administration Building from the window and veranda. It has a closet, table and chairs and AC as well.
  • The bathroom was clean and spacious too. It has a bathtub and hot and cold shower
  • We stayed here for a night only because our main destination was Hoi An, the morning we checked out, they provided noodles, bread and coffee for us.
  • The husband of the host can’t talk English that well but he was pretty accommodating and friendly.

Things to do

Da Nang was only our pit stop going to Hoi An so we did not explore it much. We stayed here only for two days and one night. The night before we went to Hoi An and on an early afternoon before our flight back to Hanoi.

Da Nang City Administrative Centre

LocationTran Phu – Ly Tu Trong intersection

One of the most famous buildings in Da Nang because of its modern design and advanced construction technology. We were lucky enough to have a impressive view of the building and its neighborhood on our Airbnb accommodation.

Dragon Bridge

Location: over the River Hàn

This bridge may look ordinary by day but invites tourists and locals alike during evening time because of its colorful LED lights while breathing fire. A must see at the weekends around 9 pm

Unfortunately, we were unable to witness the light show when we arrived because of our delayed flight and the day we went back to Da Nang was on a weekday.

Just like me, my boyfriend has cravings too. So after we had gone shopping at Han Market, we walked all the way to this restaurant to try out their local food called Banh Trang Thit Heo. This is a traditional Da Nang cuisine that consists of fresh green, pork belly, rice paper and dipping sauce.

My boyfriend and the waiter had miscommunication because of language barrier. Looking back to it, I realized that the waiter was trying to say that they ran out of pork belly so they can’t serve the dish and it took us 15 minutes to really grasp what he meant.

We ordered roast pork, substitute for the pork belly. I ordered Vietnamese rice with beef and vegetables.

They will offer you a complimentary flat bread while waiting for your order. Everything was fresh and newly cooked. I did not enjoy the Banh Trang Thrit Heo but my boyfriend savoured every bite of it. The rice was poorly cooked but the pork and the beef with vegetables were delicious.

Restaurant was neat and the whole staff was very friendly and helpful. The cost of our meal was about VND 250,000 for the three dishes we ordered.

Hungry and lost after running away from a very overpriced restaurant our Grab driver recommended us, we accidentally found this place while walking looking for a convenient store. The restaurant was spacious and had a variety of seafood, meat and vegetables in their menu. Dining area needs improvement on its hygiene but the staffs were very helpful and accommodating.

We ordered seafood hotpot for VND 175,000. It came with fresh clams, shrimps, squids, fish, tofu and vegetables. The spicy fried squid was VND 80,000.  The food was way cheaper compared to the first restaurant we went to. It had generous serving and was finger-licking good.

The yellow bus from Hoi An dropped us off along the Bach Dang Boulevard. After we took pictures of the dragon bridge, we looked for a coffee shop where we could relax and use their comfort room to freshen up.

We found this cafe overlooking the Han River. The coffee shop occupied three floors providing a delightful view of the Han River. The cafe had cute design and nicely comfortable chairs. Staffs were very friendly and accommodating and the place was very clean as well.

Coffee was strong and aromatic. They also offer a variety of desserts and snacks. The place is just a block from Han market so after you are high in caffeine, you can go to the market and shop-till-you-drop.
